Cafe Business and Residence opportunity:
A well-established, fully functioning sandwich bar and café business is for sale. The premises has a two-bedroom residence at the rear.
Business Story:
This business was originally owned by three brothers. One brother was an AFL star. The business started out as a food truck as a bit of a side project; it was something to do on weekends and attend markets and different festivals, sharing our love of jaffles with people all around Melbourne. It really grew very quickly and organically from there. The business ended up doing a tonne of different food and music festivals such as the AFL Grand Final & the Melbourne Cup, then started to get booking requests for private events and wedding functions.
Before we knew it, we were fully booked every weekend and had picked up catering contracts along the way for ongoing events, at venues such as iMAX and even ranked in Australia’s Top 10 Sandwiches in 2019.
The menu is very much a throwback to those simple childhood days of comfort food & the shop has that retro milk bar feeling to match.
In 2019 we leased a shop in Ascot Vale to use as a prep kitchen and when the lockdowns of 2020 hit we opened the shop to the public and commenced on online delivery platforms like UberEATS and DoorDash. During the 2021 lockdowns, we hosted farmer’s markets and sent out over 500 free lunches to people left without work and government support too. We quickly outgrew our premises at Ascot Vale and in 2022 we relocated to our current location, an old milk bar in Brunswick West. We have built a strong & resilient online trade and have been in UberEATS ‘Top Eats’ and DoorDash’s ‘Most Loved’ restaurants for well over two years now & benefit from a solid walk-in trade with a tram stop at our front door and nearby hospitals and offices.
We have set up all systems and procedures, even written recipes. It is a very easy-to-run business with minimum costs. Carrying a database of loyal and regular customers & consistent online trade. There is further opportunities to expand by opening windows to the tram stop & further grow the catering side of the business too.
